Our Process
The Idea
Each candle starts with an idea, often inspired by my friends and family. I use drawing, painting, reading, and research to guide my creative journey, combining these with aromatherapy to craft a unique, thoughtful concept for each candle. My aim may be to create remedies for ailments, such as a blocked nose or restless nights, or to offer a symbolic gesture with a potion based on ancient tradition. It could also be to evoke the memory of a favorite place or celebration through fragrance. With every candle, I hope to create something truly beautiful and unique.
The Pots
It all started with the pots. The ancient technique of making pinch pots has been around for thousands of years and is often the first thing you learn in a pottery class. Humble yet versatile, the pinch pot is the perfect vessel for a candle. Each one is individually handmade, dried, and sealed—a process that takes about a week, every single one totally unique. Once the candle is finished, the pots are reusable; simply fill with hot water and wipe clean. They make the perfect trinket pot.
The Blend
Each candle is a unique blend of pure essential oils, exclusive to Burning Bright. Essential oils offer a beautiful, natural way to enjoy fragrance, free from the synthetics and parabens found in most candles on the market. These blends are chosen for their aromatherapy benefits, symbolic meaning, and simply because they smell wonderful, evoking a specific place or time. Blended with soy wax, the candles are 100% natural.
Botanicals, Crystals & Symbolism
Each candle is adorned with crystals, pressed flowers, herbs, and symbols, all reflecting their ingredients and sentiment. I personally pick and press 90% of the flowers, most of which come from my garden or local meadows. It’s important to me that each candle is carefully considered and thoughtful, with everything being either biodegradable or a little treasure to keep.
